Tribes A Dozen recently sent me their line of 3 Voilà! Hallah bread mixes to review. I received the Voilà! Hallah Traditional Egg Bread, Voilà! Hallah Wholey Wheat Egg Bread and the Voilà! Hallah Simply Spelt Egg Bread Mix
I decided to have a special baker help me bake the breads. Her name is Maiya she is 3 and is grandma’s little helper. Kids love helping in the kitchen and this bread was perfect for her to help with.
Maiya and I decided to make the Voilà! Hallah traditional egg bread first. I grabbed the ingredients we needed of warm water, egg, vegetable oil and honey. Maiya grabbed her stool so she could see above the counter.
Following the directions on the package I allowed her to add each ingredient into the bowl and I turned the Kitchen Aid Mixer on using the dough hook. (if you don’t have a stand mixer you can knead this bread by hand. Kneading dough is very therapeutic) Once the dough was mixed we allowed the dough to rest for 45 minutes. After 45 minutes we divided the dough into 3 equal balls (as you can tell our balls weren’t quite equal but that’s the fun when cooking with kids.)
Next we rolled each ball into a 12 inch rope and laid the ropes next to each other . We pinched all 3 together at the top and braided (like you braid hair) when we got to the end of the ropes we again pinched the dough and slightly folded each of the ends under.
(You do not have to make a braid like we did you can simply put it in a greased loaf pan and it will turn out just as delicious. )
Next we brushed the top with a beaten egg white and let it rise again for 45 minutes. We preheated the oven about 30 minutes into our second rise time. Baked it for 25 minutes and it came out looking as you can see wonderful. I love making bread!
My daughter arrived home from work and my son walked in the house from the school bus just as the bread was coming out of the oven. I had just enough time to grab the camera and take the picture below before the bread was quickly devoured. I really couldn’t blame them there is nothing like the smell of fresh bread coming out of the oven.So now the real question is how did it taste? Well I didn’t think you would appreciate a picture of an empty plate. There was nothing left. lol This bread was so good they begged me to make the other mixes and yes they were just as good.
